While in India, Jim and I had the wonderful opportunity to visit and speak at three village churches. This was quite exciting for us, for this seems to be where our hearts are. We spoke at Brother Paul's church in L.Kota, 30 miles from the Orissa border, on Wednesday afternoon.
They shared a lovely chicken dinner with us and we also visited one of the church members in her home and prayed for her family.
After we arrived back in the USA, we heard that the little thatched roof church where we had spoken had been set on fire and burnt to the ground that following Sunday evening.
No one was hurt, but the pastor's family's belongings that were stored in the church were all gone. Our friend and host, Devasahayam, came to their aid and provided them with clothing and a big meal. As we shared with others what happened, the Lord moved on their hearts and people gave money to help rebuild the church and replace the burnt belongings. It is beautiful to see the body of Christ function in Love as Christ desires it would. The members of both congregations, that in India and here in Austin, have truly been blessed by each other and take joy in taking care of and praying for each other. We look forward to the day when we will see each other in heaven and give praise to God for how He provided all our needs through our fellow believers.
The church is now in the process of being rebuilt with American believers' funds and the church in L.Kota is encouraged and cared for.
Praise God!! He is so good! He works everything together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purposes! (Romans 8:28) I cannot wait to post a picture of the completed church for you! Then we can all rejoice together!
