Elijah shared some enlightening information with us at dinner tonight after Jim leaned over to kiss Rebekah and she leaned away.
Here's Elijah's romance tip for the day:
When you lean to kiss someone and they move back, you should put your arms around their neck and pull them toward you. Then you can kiss them.
You should have seen the look on Jim's face. Priceless! And Elijah said all of this very seriously, like he was teaching Jim something. So, if you need any tips on romance, just give Elijah a call.
Here's a song written about Eli by Three Dog Night in 1969. Funny how it fits tonight!
"Eli's comin', hide your heart, girl
Eli's comin', hide your heart, girl
Girl, Eli's a-comin', you better hide
Girl, Eli's a-comin', you better hide
Girl, Eli's a-comin', you better hide
Girl, Eli's comin', hide your heart, girl (hide it)
You better, better hide your heart
Eli's comin', better walk
Walk but you'll never get away
No, you'll never get away from the burnin' a-heartache"

Rebekah Lynn

As I was making breakfast this morning I heard, "Mommy, look. I'm all dressed!" Didn't she do a great job? You can't see them, but she even has on a pair of pink shorts under her dress for modesty. Her shoes are on the wrong feet, but that's minor. I'm so proud of my Rebekah Lynn.
She says and does some of the funniest things. When she has the hick-ups she'll says, "There's a frog in my mouth." She pronounces Grandma "Bong-ah." If you call her a little princess she'll say, "I'm not a princess. I'm Not." She loves her Sunday dress shoes even more than her light-up Princess tennis shoes. She likes to wear jewelry and lipgloss and her favorite dress up outfit is a slip with simple petticoat layers. Rebekah is a precious little girl full of laughter and silliness. She loves to sing and I often hear her making up her own rendition of songs. She'll combine the words from three songs and sing them to one tune. She taught Jim and I that the ABC song and Twinkle Twinkle are to the same tune. Did you know that? We didn't, but Rebekah figured it out!
Rebekah Lynn turns three years old next month. It seems like she's been three since before this last Christmas. She's growing up so fast and learns quickly. She brings much joy to our world and we love her dearly.

I went to see my OB yesterday about PPD. Jim went with me while his mom watched the kids for us. I was glad to have Jim all to myself and have him there with me. We discussed some things with the Dr. and he recommended some medication to help with the PPD. I've started on some samples he gave us and we should see some results in 2-4 weeks.
Here's how he explained it to me, for those of you who don't know much about Post Partum Depression. The nerves are composed of fibrous tissue, not a long chain like you would think. There are gaps in the fibers called synapses. In the synapse gaps are neurotransmitters. The neurotransmitters carry the messages through the gaps (synapses) to the next nerve. When there are not enough neurotransmitters, messages get weakened or lost. That's when depression occurs.
So, it was nice to hear that I'm not nuts or don't have enough faith in the Lord. There's an actual medical reason for what I've been feeling, or not feeling. Today I've felt so much better knowing that I'm not wacko or incapable of doing things I ought to. It's also nice to look forward to getting back to being myself.
Thank you to those of you who encouraged me to go see the Dr. and for your prayers. Thank you.

Valentine's Day Recap

Pizza party for Valentine's Day! Woo-hoo! We made homemade pizza for our little party and invited Jim's parents over to join us. We swapped Valentines, hugs and kisses and then layered our favorite toppings on the pizzas! Now we're all loaded up with chocolate to last a month! Jim's parents got the kids some of the cutest valentine gifts. They each got a little stuffed animal that sings and dances or talks. It's really cute to see them mimick the toy. Micah is fascinated by his little monkey that plays the saxophone and sways. Sometimes he gets startled by the mouth that moves. It's funny to watch.
We hope you all had a good Valentine's Day!
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
Thank you, Lord, for love beyond what we could have ever dreamed of!

My Micah has the bluest eyes, don't you think? He is such a sweet happy little boy. I am so thankful to be his mommy. The Lord knew I couldn't handle craziness with my third child. The first and second already have that covered! Micah smiles so easily and everyone just loves to hold him. His extra padding makes him extra cute and snuggly. Plus, baby fat contributes to brain development, so he should turn out to be a smart little fellow. He cut his first tooth last Thursday and his second on Friday. He hardly fussed at all and is now having fun playing with his teeth by rubbing his tongue on them. He turns 6 months this Thursday. These months have flown by. My baby is growing up and I'd like for him to slow down now. 6-12 months seems to be my favorite baby stage. They start doing things and discovering new abilities during this age frame and aren't so naughty yet. Yet. So, I'll enjoy this stage and also look forward to when he's older and we can teach him how to jump and sing songs. Children truly are a blessing from the Lord!

Slow to post
I'm sorry I'm so sluggish about posting. I was real good there for a while, and now I'm sluggish. I think I'm going bonkers right now. I was reading through the list of symptoms for post-partum depression and I think that's what's going on with me right now. I just don't feel like doing anything or that anything I do is successful! I know that's not true, but I'm all of whack right now. I told Jim I feel like I'm losing my mind! I discovered that on the list of symptoms after I had said it. So, I'll be calling the doctor on Monday to discuss some options.
I had read somewhere that the best way to get over being depressed was to be thankful. So, I am trying to be thankful today rather than letting myself feel down. I'm thankful for three healthy children, a husband who loves me even when I am bonkers, friends who are there for me, a Lord who chose me before the foundations of the world all the while knowing how sinful I am and can be! I'm thankful for chocolate and all the varieties it comes in. I'm thankful for cool sunny afternoons and watching my husband play with the kids. I'm thankful for washers and driers. I'm thankful for garbage men and their trucks. I'm thankful for Bath & Body works. I'm thankful for books, lots and lots of books. I'm thankful for computers and the internet that links us all together. I'm thankful for snuggly children and the time I get to be with them. I'm thankful for the quiet that comes after I get comfortable in bed and I'm thankful for my husband heater in bed with me.
I'm feeling much better again. Thanks for letting me be thankful in front of you!
May the Lord truly bless each of you this week with thoughts of Him and His greatness!
"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" I John 3:1
