This morning we received an email from our friend James who is visiting India. He is in a country where the persecution of Christians is intense. These Christians know what it means "to love not their own lives, even unto death." They have given everything, EVERYTHING, to follow Christ Jesus. Here is the letter from James:
"This is a fast letter. We arrived in Bhubaneswar and we gathered about 58 pastors and people from the Kandhamal and we had good meeting then we left for the Kandhamal district where most of the trouble happened. There we gathered pastors together and ministered to them and prayed for them. We wept when we saw what happened. The mobs came in to the towns with 2 to 5 thousand people. In one town they burned the police station to the ground, they placed logs in the road to stop out side help, and destroyed homes and churches. (this happened previously-Lori)
Pray for us, today we arrived in Rayagada, Orissa. We will have a meeting here tonight then leave by train tonight to another region, where Pastor Amir lives. While there we will meet with his family and then hold a Gospel meeting, then on the 22nd we leave for a region in Andra Pradash (this is the state where the orphanage is. This is a safe peaceful state for the most part-Lori). Then we will speak to 250 pastors and about 500 college students. The on the 24 or 25 we will try to catch a flight back to Bagdogra where Pastor Stephen lives. Keep me in prayer, and also for expenses for the plane flight. I think I have enough, but on this trip there are many needs. Most of the pastors whom we've ministered to have nothing and no income. Many are on the run from attacks. Over 700 church were destroyed, almost every Christian home was completely demolished and livestock was taken and all valuables stolen. Many of the Christians have nowhere to live and little food, and the government is not helping them. Please keep in prayer for them.
Love you in Christ!
Blessings, James
