Happy Reformation Day!

For those who think today is just Halloween, you're mistaken. Today is the day we celebrate a fire that was lit in Europe many years ago.
October 31st is the day that Dr. Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the Wittenberg door. Thus began the Protestant Reformation which asserted the Bible's teachings that we are justified by grace alone, through faith alone, because of Christ alone. This is contrary to what the Catholic church teaches and thus performed a purifying split in Christendom.
Today we remember the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that ripped open the dark veil that reigned for so long in Europe. Those times truly were the "Dark Ages." And we thank the Lord for using Dr. Luther to start that fire. For truly the Lord God is the one who orchestrates all things and in His mercy, He brought the Reformation. Thank you, Father, for Dr. Luther and the many others you have used to preserve Your true Gospel. And, thank You for bringing us to true repentance and faith in the accomplished work of salvation through Jesus Christ. All our "good works" are born of love for our saviour and not our attempts at gaining salvation.
For more articles on the Reformation and even some videos visit Challies blog. There are some great articles out there.
Blessings to each of you this day. I think I'll be humming "A Mighty Fortress" (written by Luther) all day long!

Thanks for the reminder about Reformation Day. I am almost finished reading 12 Extraordinary Women by Macarthur. I was reminded while reading about Mary and Martha that it is by grace alone!!!! I am so glad that you are blogging... It makes me want to join the trend but I don't know what Randall would think of it...
Love you!
