Dallas Vacation

We took a mini-vacation Memorial Day weekend to Dallas. Our primary event was a lacrosse game, but the entire weekend was full of wonderful things. We drove up after work on Friday and arrived quite late at our hotel. The hotel was terrible, I'll not bore you with the details. We moved to a different hotel on Saturday...it was that bad.
We made a quick visit to Tamra's place on Saturday. Cait had a ballet recital, so we didn't have all day to visit. But at least that kept them in town long enough for us to see them. It's always great to see how the Lord is meeting their every need.
We spent the afternoon swimming in the hotel pool. It was so very hot and the pool was just what we needed.
That evening we met up with our longtime friend, James Thompson. James is a missionary that travels helping establish churches in India, several African churches, Germany, and will soon be headed to Europe. We enjoyed such great fellowship with him. Wish we could see each other more often!
The next day we went to church at Providence Church in Frisco. They have a great children's ministry and we enjoyed the preaching we sat under. The Lord had us there for His reasons, and we knew it.
We ate lunch out, then headed over to Kathryn & Erik's house. We visited with them and met little Samuel. What a sweet baby! He was into making some really cute squeaky baby sounds. Quite cute.
Then it was time for our final EVENT of the weekend...the lacrosse game between the Barrage and the Long Island Lizards. Woo-hoo! Now, not many Texans know much about lacrosse. What a shame! Even I enjoy it. It is fast paced, highly skilled, and a very physical sport. Great as a spectator sport. Plus, the personalities in the sport are quite interesting.
We headed to Texas stadium for the game. If you've ever been, you know how crazy it is to figure out the parking. Ugh! But we made it! Poor Rebekah ended up getting sick and showed a fever while at Kathryn's house. Then she threw up in the parking lot. Yuck! We purchased our tickets and headed in to find our seats. The seats were great for our crew. Close to the bathroom, which Rebekah and I visited often. High enough to view the entire field well. Plus, sitting right behind us for the first half of the game was the fiancee (and her family) of one of the Long Island Lizard players, Cocchi. It was fun talking with them and helping explain the game to the family members who had very little knowledge of lacrosse. It was a plus that they thought our kids were entertaining and not annoying! During half time the announcer called out the seat numbers that had won helmets and jerseys from the two teams. The last number they called was one of ours! Woo-hoo! Elijah was so excited. When we claimed our prize they asked for Elijah's name and we told them we had driven up from Austin for the game. They thought that was pretty neat.
After the game, Jim and Elijah went down to the field to get autographs. Elijah's favorite player is Nicky Palanco. They got his signature just before he walked off the field. Jim told him that he was Elijah's favorite and Nicky gave Elijah a high-five! Wow! You should have seen the faces on my two boys as they came bouncing up the stairs! I'm not quite sure who was more excited, Elijah or Jim. Needless to say, that was the highlight of the weekend, even if Rebekah was sick through half of it! It was all worth the drive and the yucky hotel experience.
