I went to see my OB yesterday about PPD. Jim went with me while his mom watched the kids for us. I was glad to have Jim all to myself and have him there with me. We discussed some things with the Dr. and he recommended some medication to help with the PPD. I've started on some samples he gave us and we should see some results in 2-4 weeks.
Here's how he explained it to me, for those of you who don't know much about Post Partum Depression. The nerves are composed of fibrous tissue, not a long chain like you would think. There are gaps in the fibers called synapses. In the synapse gaps are neurotransmitters. The neurotransmitters carry the messages through the gaps (synapses) to the next nerve. When there are not enough neurotransmitters, messages get weakened or lost. That's when depression occurs.
So, it was nice to hear that I'm not nuts or don't have enough faith in the Lord. There's an actual medical reason for what I've been feeling, or not feeling. Today I've felt so much better knowing that I'm not wacko or incapable of doing things I ought to. It's also nice to look forward to getting back to being myself.
Thank you to those of you who encouraged me to go see the Dr. and for your prayers. Thank you.

I'm so glad you got some good information and some medication to help until you return to your norm :-) I'm proud of you for realizing what was going on and taking action before it got worse! Jim is such a wonderful, supportive husband :-) Glad to hear you are encouraged!
