Update

I haven't posted since last weekend. Sorry about that! This week flew by and it was such a strange one.

Last weekend we all went out to Mom and Dad's for the weekend. Mom had a jewelry party and the guys & kids all went out to the ranch. It was fun to meet Mom's friends and stock up on some jewelry. :-) The ranch group had a great time, too. My cousin, Nathan and his son (Trevor) went out to the ranch with Jim, Dad, and the kids. It was his first time out there and they all seemed to really enjoy it. We all headed home Sunday evening.

Then, Monday evening we loaded up our crew and drove to Cleveland, TX. We stayed at the Super 8 in town and went to Donna's funeral on Tuesday. The funeral was touching and I appreciated the words the minister spoke. It was the same minister who had performed their wedding. The flowers were beautiful and the spray on the casket was lovely. In the spray they had placed the blanket Donna was working on with the knitting needles. They also had a great slide show and a board of pictures. I liked those little touches. Afterwards we went to a family reception and then out to the country to visit some more with family. We enjoyed catching up with everyone and spending time with Mammaw & Pappaw. My brother, David, drove down from Missouri for the funeral. He surprised everyone and it really touched Uncle Bill that he came all the way down to support him. I know Pappaw truly enjoyed the visit, too. I could tell that Dad was pleased that David was able to come, too. I think it meant a lot to everyone that he took the time off to drive down.

We spent Tuesday night in Cleveland also, and then headed into Houston for my Dad's Uncle Rusty's funeral. It was a lovely funeral and I'm glad we were able to go. Uncle Rusty was quite a prankster so that made for some fun stories. Afterwards Jim the kids and I needed to head on to Austin. But, on the way we stopped in Katy to visit the Bass Pro Shop. (I must say that I prefer Cabela's.) Then we decided to go to the movie theater at the other end of the mall. We and one other lady saw Charlotte's Web. Then we went to the Rain Forest Cafe for dinner. I don't know if you've ever eaten there before, but it was wild! They had all sorts of animated animals that would go bonkers every thirty minutes or so during a mock thunder storm. The lights flashed, thunder roared, and gorillas & elephants went crazy. Rebekah was scared out of her wits! She would climb into my lap, huddle up and tuck her head into my chest. Poor thing! After a while she got used to and stayed in her chair. But she still had a freaked out look on her face. Maybe that's why she wanted to sleep in our room that night? Well, we finally made it home, after our little outing and all fell into bed. Poor Jim had to go to work the next morning, though.

On Friday, two of my dear college friends and their little girls came in town. Kathryn & Abigail arrived first and then Danielle and Rachel showed up. We had a good visit over the weekend and made little scripture plaques for us to each hang up in our homes. We looked through old college photos, swapped stories, chased kids, and enjoyed each other's company all weekend. It was great. Jim even watched the kids so we could go out for a little bit, just us girls. It was a much needed weekend for me. Thank you ladies for coming to visit us!

Yesterday was a good day at church for us. We're working on training our kids to sit quietly in church. It seems that Rebekah doesn't yet know what quiet is. I gave her a coloring book and crayons to help occupy her, but she started humming and singing while she colored. So, I gave her some books to look at and she started "reading" them out loud. Boy, I sure do miss her pacifier sometimes! She doesn't know how to be quiet without it! Last night at home we tried to get her to sit down and play the quiet game. 10 seconds! That was her max! If you've seen the movie Over the Hedge, we think she resembles Hammie the squirrel. She just can't sit still or be quiet sometimes. She cracks us up. But, she's not spastic, so I don't think it's A.D.D. or anything. I think she's just acting her age.
