This afternoon we dressed in our finest duds and attended the Austin Ballet's annual performance of the Nutcracker. It was all we hoped it would be. The hall was packed with little girls in big fluffy dresses and bows in their hair. Of course all ages come to see the ballet, but it's the little twirly girls that always catch my eye. At one point I looked over at Rebekah while she was sitting in Judy's lap and caught her lifting her arms up over her head like the ballerinas. It was a precious sight. Elijah enjoyed it also, but seemed to have ants in his pants. He couldn't sit still for more than five minutes. His favorite part was the Rat of course. He's such a little boy! Micah watched the dancers off and on. He seemed to like the colorful costumes and the lighting. Of course, much of what he saw was the lighting on the ceiling as it made it's journey from the spotlights in the balcony to the stage. Afterwards we were treated to some memorabilia. Elijah picked out the Rat King nutcracker and Rebekah chose the little girl one. They've been playing with them all evening. Tonight Elijah decided the Rat King needed to be in a cage, so we shut him up in the closet.
Thank you, John & Judy, for a lovely evening.
