One of my favorite events around Christmas time is getting and then decorating the tree. This year we went to a big red and white tent on 183 where they were selling trees brought down from Oregon. Oohhh... They had many lovely and gigantic trees! We selected a seven-footer for our home. Here's a picture of Jim and the kids with the tree.
The tree is now sitting in our study in front of the window, right beside the computer desk. The kids and I did some decorating on it while Jim was at work. In fact, a star ornament just fell off! Ha! The kids heavily decorated the bottom third of the tree while I was left to cover the other two thirds. I've secretly been thinning out the cluster of ornaments where Rebekah stood and have dispersed them throughout the tree. I'll attach a final picture once we get the star up.
Elijah and I worked on the tree lights while Rebekah played upstairs. I tried to teach him "Away in a Manger" which led into telling/explaining the nativity story. There are quite a few terms he still didn't know, but I think he's starting to understand. We haven't placed the star on top yet. That comes last. But Elijah wanted to put it on the step ladder so that Jesus could sit there rather than the tree. What a cute thought!
