We had a good time this past weekend. Jim's brother, John, and his son, Cross, were in town and we were able to spend some time with them.
Friday: Jim got off work early and we all headed to Chuck-E-Cheese for lunch and fun times. We met Jim's parents and John & Cross there. Afterwards we all came over to our house for some more play time and John headed down to San Antonio. He was in a wedding on Saturday down there. Aubrey was back in Maryland helping host a convention, so John(Sr.) & Judy took care of Cross while John(Jr.) was in S.A. for wedding stuff. We hosted our church's Bible Study group Friday evening after the family headed back to John & Judy's house. It was so much fun to host everyone in our new home. We had rooms for the kids to play or nap in. That was nice and enabled the parents to stay and visit even longer. Our friend, David Krill, led the Bible Study on Faith (or faithfulness). It was good and convicting to be challenged from The Word about being faithful to each other and the Lord.
Saturday: We slept in late and then dawdled around the house a while. We ended up playing Hide & Seek with the kids for two hours. It was so much fun! Rebekah really got into it. She would hide in some great spots and not make a peep. Of course we had to emphasize that we never hide unless we're playing this game...especially in stores!
Elijah had wanted to have a picnic and go to the park all day long, and we just weren't able to. Time slipped away and it was dark already. For dinner, we headed to Whole Foods downtown. We discovered an eating area on the roof and were able to have a "picnic" afterall. While we ate, we kept noticing families with children come up to the roof and then venture off to the far side of the building. Our curiosity was piqued, so we went roaming after dinner. Much to our surprise, we found an entire castle playscape on the roof of Whole Foods! Needless to say, the kids were ecstatic. Elijah was blessed that night. The Lord let him have a picnic and play at a playground. The Lord does truly care about the little things, doesn't He?
Sunday: Jim taught Sunday school and the kids and I met him for "Big Church." After the worship service and some visiting with friends, we headed over to Jim's parents for lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed our time over there playing in the yard and having a scrumptous lunch. Then it was time to come home for a short nap and then dinner preparations. We hosted the crew over here for fajitas. It was our first time to have guests in our formal dining room. But, I forgot to get a picture. Oh, well! We had a good time with everyone and the kids loved showing their rooms to Uncle John and Cross.
Well, that's the summary of our weekend. It was a good R&R weekend. We don't usually get as much rest as we truly need, so this was wonderful. I'll try to post some pictures later.
