Aaahhh... home at last

Well, we finally decided to end the holidays and come home. We tried to postpone reality as long as we could. We spent 4 days at the ranch in Goldthwaite and loved almost every minute of it. I could have done without minutes/hours of rain today, but the land sure did need it. And for some strange reason it was so much more peaceful before Elijah & Rebekah joined us out there on Tuesday evening. Hmmm, how could that be??
Jim and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary on the 2nd. And yes, it is our 8th anniversary. We were married in 1999, and it has been quite a task convincing everyone, myself included, that it is our 8th anniversary not our ninth. You have to remember to start counting with zero rather than one. That's the trick. :-) So, it's eight years later and man, we've been busy... three kids, three apartments and two houses, just a couple of jobs, and one church. You gotta have something stable in your life!
Jim and I did something a little different this year. The idea was going to be in our stockings, but we saved it for our time at the ranch. We each came up with a list of five things the other person could do to show us love this next year. I read the idea somewhere and thought we could give it a try. I think we both enjoyed the task. I know you'd all like to know what our lists were... but I'm not going to tell you. hee-hee! Some things are meant to be kept private, despite what some think blogs are for! However, I can tell you I had no idea Jim wanted me to get up in the morning with him and make breakfast. I thought I was staying out of his way and helping him not be late for work by chattering away all morning. So, I'll be getting up at a decent hour like the rest of the world starting next week. (I'm still recouping from vacation-ya know?) And, Jim didn't know that it makes me feel cared for when he locks all the doors and double checks them before he goes to bed at night. So, we each now have a little list of some things we can do for the other person this next year. And, I'm sure if we can do these things for a year, they'll just become part of our life. Yippee!
Anyways, it's way late and I need to hit the hay. Blessings to each of you, and Happy New Year!
